Weird Celeb Trend Alert: Getting Decked Out To Sit Courtside

Reposted from Slaves to Fashion - Daily Style Blog by Glamour.com

There are a lot of ways to tell the world "I'm important--I'm a celebrity!" without saying a word, ranging from the not-so-subtle (yes, Heidi and Spencer and your endless "candid" photo opps, we're talking to you) to the slightly-more-discreet (showing up three hours late everywhere you go, including your own parties). But lately celebs have been flashing their select status by getting dressed the way most of us do for a once-in-a-lifetime Cinderella moment...for a basketball game.

Last week, Fergie and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas went straight from the American Music Awards to the Lakers game--but she didn't bother to change out of her gold sequined Naeem Khan dress and glittering Christian Louboutin pumps. The rest of the Peas had plenty of time to slip out of their AMA ensembles, but Fergie must have taken one look at herself in that gorgeous dress and decided, "I'm a celebrity, dammit, I'm leaving this on!"

Victoria Beckham recently sat courtside at the Staples Center with her family, too,and you know she wasn't about to show up in mom jeans and a pair of dingy white tennis sneakers. The former Spice Girl used her front row seat as a prime time forum to show off her new $930 Christian Louboutin Maggie pumps and one of the many Hermes Birkin bags from her $2 million collection--leave the boring jerseys to the boys!

And speaking of boys, they've been getting in on the dapper spectator thing, too. Check out Jay Z in a velvet tuxedo complete with cuff links, a lapel pin, and a perfectly tied bow-tie, taking in a game with Interscope Records founder Jimmy Iovine. Nothing says "I'm a baller" like showing up to see the Lakers play in black tie, right?

What do you dolls think of celebrities getting all decked out to go to basketball games? Do you think they look a little ridiculous and should just grab a pair of sneakers like the rest of us, or do you feel like famous faces should always look their best? Does it make them seem a little bit more important and untouchable, or just out of touch? Would you ever get this dolled up to go to a basketball game? Discuss.

Fashion Essentials: The Perfect Black Pump

Posted on Outblush.com:

A black pump is a black pump, is a black pump...unless it's a Louboutin. Or, even better, a Louboutin look-alike at a fraction of the cost. These Ann Taylor Perfect Platform Pumps ($175) stopped us in our tracks, and we wondered why good ol' Ann was selling the red-soled wonders. Turns out imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and we find it's good for our wallets, too. Now we just need to find some red paint!

Shopping the Sale Rack: Anthropologie

I regularly enjoy browsing my neighborhood Anthropologie and often drool over their awesome selection of jewelry, accessories, clothing, candles and home goods. The secret to scoring good marked down items at Anthropolgie is the often re-stocked sale section! Here are my recent purchases:

Celebrations Blouse – $39.95 (was $68.00)

I love this cute blouse! The crinkly jersey top has a loose, relaxed fit. I am always on the hunt for tops that are long enough to wear over leggings, and this one is perfect. I am in love with the special details, like the pompom trim and floral embroidery on each sleeve.

You can find the top in Blue (it's more of a purple, in my opinion) or Black currently on sale for $39.95 by clicking here.

Fernlee Top – $39.95 (was $68.00)

This top is really flattering - the drawstring waist adds some shape definition, while the loose fitting slubby cotton is incredibly comfortable. Cute details like covered buttons and the great teal-green color give it a dreamy, vintage feeling. I am normally not a green person, but this shade in combination with the fabric was super pretty. The details kind of get lost in the black version.

The top (in Blue, Green or Black) is currently on sale for $39.95 and can be found here.

Swept Away Top – $29.95 (was $48.00)

This ultra pretty tank by Deletta has a graceful swag of airy chiffon, topped off with a spontaneous bow. The draping is very unique and almost feels like a vintage find.

The top (available in pink, brown, black and slate) is currently on sale for $29.95 and can be found here.

Now, some of my favorite pieces currently in stores (and not on sale) that I've had my eye on!

Diaphanous Tunic

Oooh, hello gorgeous! This lighter-than-air silk chiffon tunic by Project Alabama is so dreamy, I had to post all the color options. I am dying to try this top on. Raw-edges ruffles tumble down a lengthy swath of lighter-than-air chiffon. Yes, please! The tunic length would look amazing worn over leggings or skinny jeans. The removable sash helps add the perfect waist-defining cinch.

The tunic top (in navy, ivory and lilac) is currently $88 and available here.

Leona Tieback

I am beyond in love with this! The silk top's delicately hued chiffon flows from pintuck pleats into billowy three-quarter sleeves.

Available in Pink, $98.00 here

Snowscape Tunic

It's all about the details! This Corey Lynn Calter hammered silk top b features puffs of chiffon and flurries of beads sprinkling the neckline.

$148 in Ivory, available here
